Aldara (imiquimod) is a topical medication that is used to treat actinic keratoses (precancerous growths on the skin) and external genital warts. It works by stimulating the immune system’s response, which can help to destroy the abnormal cells that are causing the growths.

Aldara cream is typically applied once or twice daily to the affected area, depending on the individual’s medical condition and the severity of their symptoms. It’s important to follow the dosage instructions provided by a healthcare professional and to avoid getting the medication in the eyes, mouth, or open wounds.

Common side effects of Aldara include redness, itching, and burning at the application site. In some cases, Aldara can cause more serious side effects, such as blistering or ulcers. It’s important to use Aldara only as directed and to talk to a healthcare professional if you experience any serious side effects.

Aldara should not be used by people with certain medical conditions, such as skin cancer or a weakened immune system. It’s important to talk to a healthcare professional before using Aldara, especially if you have any underlying medical conditions or if you are taking other medications.
